Near a recreational park archeologist found a new archaeological site, called ‘the layer of Usselo’, with remains of the first settlements in the area long ago. To address the found, the county commissioned an aboveground monument.
The design is an architectural bedrock embedded in the landscape. A passage underneath allows visitors to enter the big stainless steel shafts imprinted with information on the history of the site. Cast arrow points where used to leave an imprint on the surface of the cast concrete suggesting fossils.
